Our opening program is a subtle way of introducing a way to communicate in Yiddish. We’ll introduce two original poems, along with basic instructions on how to actually speak Yiddish like you belong.
The free-flowing episode has to do with the host; Shloymeh D’Voyle: Sol the good guy. Who he is, and what’s he all about. The interesting thing is, meeting someone for the first time and not being able to really understand about him, because of a different language. You really do have to concentrate on who he is, rather than a passive glance that’s understood.
The other poem has to do with a medical procedure. You won’t see an episode like this on Grey’s Anatomy. The poem begins with a medical procedure, the prognosis and follow up behavior of the patient. The story does have a few curves and winds up nowhere near where it started out.
Get a beverage, sit down in a comfortable chair and relax. Let the richness and the warmth of Yiddish properly spoken, entertain you…Kish Mir in Yiddish, indeed.
